あらすじ・STORY
唐糸の身柄を再び手に入れた頼朝は、密謀者がきっといると思い、それを聞き出そうと拷問に掛けようにした。しかし頼朝は、今度も松が岡の尼僧の言葉に負け、代わりに唐糸を石の牢に閉じ込めた。
Catching Karaito again, Yoritomo was planning to torture her for finding out possible accomplices. However, being pushed back by the nun master in Matsugaoka, Yoritomo had to give up and instead locked Karaito in a stone jail.
唐糸は石の牢に入れられてしまった。顔を格子に乗せて外を眺め、不本意な運命への抗争を精一杯に体で表わしている。一方では、門の外を守る男たちに目を向ければ、侍が活躍するころのこの物語において、鎧姿がはじめて描かれた。
Karaito is remanded in a stone jail. She is placing her face on a lattice, longing for a miracle in her fate. Outside the door, there are sitting men to guard this place. In this story where warriors plaid a crucial role, here finally we see a figure who wears an armor.

メモ・COMMENTS
格子型の壁は、罪人を閉じ込める牢の象徴的な作りになっている。一方では、ここでその牢とは頑固な石で出来上がっている。ただ絵において、その造りは建物の基礎部分に止まり、それ以外の表現の要素はさほど認められない。
A room surrounded with walls of lattices was considered a typical jail. In this case, the room was built in stone, a much stronger material. On the picture, we can find stone only at the base but very little anywhere else.
