あらすじ・STORY
頼朝の近くにいる宮遣いの女房唐糸は、木曽義仲の侍である手塚光盛を父親に持つ。その唐糸は、義仲征伐と決心した頼朝の動静をいち早く都へ知らせを送る。しかも、父に奨励を与えることを条件に、頼朝刺殺の役を買って出る。義仲は、成功すれば唐糸を自分の妻にするなど、それ以上の約束を手紙に認め、重宝の短刀を添えて鎌倉に届けた。
Lady Karaito is a servant, and her father, Tezuka no Mitsumori, is a warrior leader under Yoshinaka. Overheard Yoritomo's plan, Karaitoimmediately sent a letter to the capital. In the letter, Karaito promised to assassinate Yoritomo if her father could be rewarded accordingly. Yoshinaka replied with a dagger of his heirloom as the weapon, and further offered that he would have Karaito as hisown wife is the assassination being accomplished.
ここは、都。画面の中心を据えている二人の男は、平家を追い出したあとの義仲と、娘からの密報の手紙を持ち込んだ手塚。知らせを受けた義仲の表情には、緊張も安堵も特定する手がかりはなく、なによりも大事な短刀はここに登場していない。
A palace in the capital. In the center, there is Yoshinaka who has forced the Heike out of the city. Facing him, Tezuka brought in the letter from his daughter. It is rather difficult to tell what Yoshinaka feels from his face, under tension or relieved. The dagger cannot be located here neither.

メモ・COMMENTS
画面は、この節の物語の最後の部分にスポットライトを当てた。ただ、密室の外に控えた四人の男の姿はいささか難解である。多忙極まる義仲のつぎの面会を待っているのだろうか、それとも密議のため一時に室外退出を命じられた近侍の面々だろうか。それに、唐糸からの手紙を持って遠く鎌倉からやってきた男の姿も見いだせない。加えて、義仲の手に握られたものは、扇子を逆さまになっているようにも見えるが、あるいはもたされた手紙を表現しようとしたものだろうか。
The picture turns a spotlight on the very last moment of the story in this section. Here, the four men outside the room are rather confusing. Are they waiting for the next meeting with Yoshinaka, or being asked to avoid a secret discussion? The story described a man who carried the letter after a long journey and there is no clue about him. Furthermore, the item in Yoshinaka's hand is mysterious. It could be the letter in discussion, but looks like a fan grasped by a wrong end.
